How to Protect Yourself Financially
Ottawa - Bayview Yards, 7 Bayview Rd, Ottawa, ON K1Y 2C5
May 29, 2018 | 7:00pm-9:00pm
Ladies, how vulnerable are you financially?
When I was in my twenties, I thought I was doing really well. Then, in my early thirties, tragedy struck and my financial house came tumbling down around me. I didn't see any of it coming, despite the fact that I'm a Type A, organized, and goal-driven person.
Almost overnight, I found myself $400,000 in debt and without a future. Imagine having to completely reinvent your life, from scratch, at 32. That was my reality back then.
The thing that I realized in a hurry is that the biggest point of risk in anyone's life is what they don't know. If you don't know that you are vulnerable, how can you protect yourself? If you're not aware that the way you've set up your financial life is full of holes, how can you prevent a mess when life happens?
And life happens to everyone at some point.
Protecting yourself isn't rocket science, but it does involve setting up your personal finances in a way that mitigates risk and provides a buffer if the unthinkable happens - like divorce, death, major illness in the family, sudden loss of job, and so on.
In this month's Women's Money Group meeting, I will show you which documents and financial structures offer a measure of protection. Through an interactive, case-based approach, you'll learn about the various points of vulnerability and how they change depending on your circumstances. You will also learn how to structure your personal finances to minimize your exposure to potential problems and to provide you with the resources you need should something happen.
You will also learn everything you need to know about your Credit Bureau Report and Credit Score - what affects it, how to improve it, and why it matters.
Get guidance and support as you work through your points of vulnerability to get to a place of greater security.
As part of the May 29th event, you will also have complimentary access to a webinar in mid-June to follow up on your progress. There's a community of like-minded women who are here to support you. Those who are WMG members will have access to me for additional Q&A's through the closed Facebook group.
If you're new to Women's Money Group, you can attend your first meeting for free. If you are a member, access to the meeting is included in your membership. You just need to reserve a seat through the link below.
